Some Things About Me...

I'm a firm believer in lifelong education - learning shouldn't end when you graduate! For me, sometimes that means reading books from new genres, trying out new hobbies like guitar or pottery, or taking Chinese classes on the weekend. There's nothing quite like the rush of realizing you're improving at something.

And as much as I love learning myself, I think helping others learn is even more important. I've taught a variety of subjects at many different grade levels, and still think there's a lot more we can do to help improve education worldwide.

I'm from the Pacific Northwest, and anyone who has been there knows we are big on hikes, camping, and just getting out amongst the trees. Though I may work with computers and love to lose myself in a coding problem or two, unwinding with a camping trip is my ideal way to spend a weekend.

While so far I've only ticked off 8 countries on my traveling bucket list, I plan to continue seeing more of what's out there. Though beach getaways are nice, I tend to travel to places where I can see different cultures, eat local food, and experience something that takes me out of my own small world. To me, travel is all about pushing my boundaries and seeing how I  can handle new situations.
